Derek Oxford


Derek joined CPS in 2008.

He graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Florida State University.  He has worked in the back office of two of the largest brokerage houses in the world, Merrill Lynch and Fidelity Investments. During his time at Merrill Lynch, Derek was one of four Institutional traders for their WRAP account platform. He dealt directly with fund managers from BlackRock, Vanguard, Fidelity and Morgan Stanley while trading millions of dollars every day. At Fidelity Investments, Derek was one of 50 college planning specialists for the entire company and handled the Southeast region of the U.S out of Jacksonville, Florida.

Derek brings insight from back-office exposure, direct-client contact and years of market experience. Derek has obtained his Series 66 license as Registered Investment Advisor Representative and earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ (CFP®) Professional designation.

Derek’s current duties include assisting the investment committee, hosting and assisting with seminars and newsletters—all while offering an excellent client experience.  Outside of the office, Derek is known for his philanthropic involvement in numerous non-profit organizations and is a recipient of the Polk Emerging Leader Award for his commitment to the community.

Derek loves to spend time with his wife, son and daughter, and their dogs. Derek enjoys mud runs, rock climbing, running and swimming.
